Six tips for motivation and more fun in life:
1. Know your goals.
A life without goals is an unhappy one. Sitting down and writing out what your goals are is a sure way to feel happier and more motivated! Oh… and think BIG. You can accomplish anything you set your mind to. So become that #bosschick. Drive that red Tesla Model X (yes, please!) Marry that man of your dreams. Don’t sell yourself short. We’re capable of so much more than we can even imagine. Try it and see how you feel.
2. Get on the same page with your significant other (if you have one).
I hear of so many unhappy couples and of them being on just totally separate pages! Sitting down with your significant other, discussing each other’s goals (which should have been written down from the earlier tip) and making sure you’re on the same page will go a long way! If you’re both in agreement and supporting each other, you’re more likely to be happy and feel motivated.
3. Compartmentalize your schedule.
One of my favorite things to do! In the morning, or sometimes even the night before, I schedule out my day and include all the things I want to accomplish before going to sleep that night. And if, for example, you agreed to have dinner time, movie time or anything like that, with your partner, make sure to schedule that for the day as needed! If you have a goal to lose a certain amount of weight, make sure you schedule the time to go on that walk or get in that gym time. If it’s written down, it’s more likely to happen. Plus, you’ll feel great about all you accomplished before your head hits the pillow at night.
4. Eat clean and workout.
There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind these days that eating clean (a.k.a. healthy) and working out are KEY elements to living your best life and being your best self. When you’re nourishing your body and exercising it regularly, you’ll be in better health. This means more energy for fun activities, more motivation to get out of bed and a better mindset to tackle your day! 5. Grant yourself permission to have fun!
This is a big one that I struggle with now and again. It’s easy to get wrapped up in everyday struggles and responsibilities but… if you’re not having fun in life, then what’s even the point? Crank that music on your way to work. Wear those fun socks when you go to the gym. Rock that red lipstick you love just to go do some groceries. Create fun and liveliness in your everyday moments. Life is so much better with this spirit- of-play mentality in place.
6. Don’t be so serious… shake it off.
In the wise words of the amazing Taylor Swift: “shake it off” (don’t hate- I love everything Tay Swift). Don’t be so serious! You’re going to have setbacks, problems, and obstacles in life. It’s a tough planet! Plus, how boring would life be without some obstacles to overcome? But just look at them as opportunities- a chance to get creative and overcome what’s in your way. So along with tip #5, just have fun, shake it off and keep moving forward. You’ll be glad you did.
